Chinese Woman Stabbed to Death in Pur Senchey

A Chinese businesswoman was stabbed to death on the premises of her garment enterprise in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district on Friday night due to a business dispute, local police said Sunday.

Zhang Li, 43, ran a small factory that made hats, and was found dead there when workers arrived at around 7 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to district police chief Yoeun Sarann.

Zhang Li had apparently been stabbed 10 times with a pair of scissors at some point in the previous night, he added.

“This case is a personal dispute involving her job,” Mr. Sarann said. “It did not involve a robbery.”

He said police believe she had been alone at the factory, where she also lived, when confronted by at least two suspects, whose identities are known but who are still at large.

District police are cooperating with municipal penal police to apprehend the suspects, Mr. Sarann added, declining to name the suspects.
