National Election Committee President Chheng Phon promised the two prime ministers Monday that the panel will meet deadlines for holding elections July 26.
“We are arranging the structure for the provincial and communal election commissions. The technical aspects will be completed no later than the first week in April,” he said during the NEC’s first meeting with First Prime Minister Ung Huot and Second Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Chheng Phon added that voter registration will begin no later than the end of April. The National Assembly is expected to consider a schedule for voter and party registration as part of an amendment to the electoral law.
