Chamber Boss Seeks Larger Membership

Phnom Penh Chamber of Commerce Chairman Teng Bunma on Monday called for the expansion of the chamber’s board from 24 to 36 members in a bid to further economic development.

At a chamber meeting Monday, Teng Bunma expressed his desire to see Cambodia become a member of Asean, but stressed that the country still has a long way to go before it can compete with its neighbors.

He wants more business people to join the chamber to help devise ways in which Cambodia can strengthen its regional economic standing. “We have to produce things that Asean countries are unable to produce so we should spend some time researching and studying the needs of our neighboring competitors,” he said.

About 50 people submitted their names for the next chamber election. Teng Bunma also asked for local and foreign advisers.
