An accountant at Holiday Palace Casino in Poipet commune was sent to Banteay Meanchey provincial court on Monday, accused of raping and killing his 16-year-old servant, police said.
Suspect Y You, 27, was arrested Friday morning, when police burst into his room in the casino compound after they were alerted by casino staff, Nuth Ly, O’Chrou district police chief said Monday.
They found him there with Ki Vannara’s naked body, he said. “When we arrested him, the victim’s body was not covered with anything,” Nuth Ly said.
Chuon Vath, bureau chief of Banteay Meanchey province’s anti-human trafficking unit, said the victim was stabbed twice in the neck. “The suspect [initially] refuted the accusation,” she said. “He claimed he did not rape the victim and the victim was accidentally killed.”
But Nuth Ly said Y You eventually confessed to raping the girl. “Then [he] killed the victim after she tried to use a knife to prevent herself from being raped,” he said.
Y You had hired the girl to look after his 5-year-old son. The victim, who was a resident of Kandal province, had worked for the suspect for two months. She was buried on Saturday.
