The Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (Caritas-CCAMH), a unit of Caritas Cambodia has established a one-stop-service for children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, intellectual disability and Down syndrome in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Cambodia. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people and how they experience the world around them. In recent years, more and more children with language and communication challenges are brought by their parents/ caregivers to Caritas-CCAMH to rule out autism. Social and popular media has raised awareness on the issue of autism, but schools, hospitals both government, non-government and other service providers, parents and caregivers face many challenges.
Dr. Anula Nikapota, consultant child psychiatrist from UK with three decades of experience in teaching, training and providing services for children including autism is currently visiting Cambodia. On this occasion Caritas-CCAMH is organizing two consultative meets for service providers and parents/ caregivers to children with autism and related social communication handicap.

14.30-17.00 Interactive sessions with parents & caregivers on needs and challenges of children with autism
