Cambodia has warned that action may be taken against any media outlets publishing fake news that could cause widespread panic in the country.
Its Information Ministry issued the warning in a notice, with ministry spokesman Meas Sophorn saying it was needed to remind journalists in Cambodia, especially those in online media, to act with professionalism and respect the law.
“We still see a small number of local media not following the press law, so the ministry released the notice,” said Sophorn, according to a Khmer Times report.
