Cambodia sends 8th batch of peacekeepers to Lebanon

Kampong Speu – Cambodia dispatched the eighth batch of 184 peacekeepers to Lebanon on Wednesday to replace the seventh group, whose one-year United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon has come to an end.

The military engineering group, including 13 women, would work on landmine clearance, road, bridge and shelter construction, and humanitarian tasks during their mission there, said Pol Saroeun, a senior minister in charge of sending troops to the U.N. peacekeeping missions.

“The ceremony today once again demonstrates Cambodia’s active contribution to the U.N. peacekeeping missions in maintaining peace, security and stability in the world,” he said during a farewell ceremony held at the Training School for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces here.
