Cambodia inches closer toward COVID-19 vaccination goal

Cambodia has inched closer toward a country-set goal of vaccinating 12 million, or 75 percent of its 16-million population, against the COVID-19 by yearend, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (MoH) said on Thursday.

By Wednesday, some 10.9 million eligible people, or 68 percent of the total population, had received at least one vaccine dose and 8.6 million of them, or 53.7 percent of the total population, had been fully vaccinated with two doses, MoH’s secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in a report.

“As of Sept. 1, about 93 percent of the 10 million targeted adults and 80 percent of the 2 million targeted adolescents aged 12-17 had taken at least one vaccine dose,” she said.
