Cambodia has no intention to extend COVID-19 measures despite rising cases

On Sunday midnight, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen declared that he would not recommend King Norodom Sihamoni to put the nation in the state of emergency though he had already enrolled the request.

He said on his official Facebook account: “As the head of the government, I would like to confirm that there will be no request (to His Majesty the King) to put the country in the state of emergency wholly or partially,” adding that there would be no lockdown in the capital city.

The minister further included, “I would like to appeal to the people to keep calm, not to panic, and to work with the government to fight against the COVID-19 based on the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health.”
