Cambodia faces flash floods due to impacts of depressions, southwest monsoon

Cambodia could face flash flooding in the capital Phnom Penh and several other provinces from Sept. 8 to 14, said a statement from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on Tuesday.

According to the weather forecast, the kingdom will suffer from the impacts of depressions, southwest monsoon, and sea breeze that will cause moderate-to-heavy rains, thunderstorms, strong winds, and high sea waves, the statement said.

“Phnom Penh and the provinces of Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu, Kandal and Svay Rieng could face rainwater flooding,” it said, plus three other coastal provinces, namely Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk and Kampot.
