Cambodia cancels plan to hire Turkey’s 200-MW power ship

Phnom Penh – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen cancelled on Friday a plan to lease Turkey’s power ship due to technical issues and high cost, government spokesman Phay Siphan said.

The prime minister announced the cancellation during a weekly cabinet meeting, he said.

The spokesman said the cancellation was made because the 200-megawatt power ship could not reach Cambodia in early May when the country is in need of electricity due to high temperatures in dry season.
