The development of small- and medium-size businesses in Cambodia is to take center stage at a two-day conference in Phnom Penh that planners hope will lead to greater cooperation between the public and private sectors to develop Cambodia’s economy.
Representatives from the business, banking and government sectors are attending the meeting, which is organized by the Mekong Project Development Facility. In a number of countries, small- and medium-size businesses play a major role in the economy and employ most of the people in the job market.
MPDF officials said they hope that this meeting, which started on Thursday, will lead to a joint effort to boost their development.
The MPDF is a program managed by the International Finance Corp, the World Bank’s private-sector arm.
