Border Pass For B’bang

Thai and Cambodian authorities have agreed to open a border crossing in Battambang province next month, provincial officials said Sunday.

The agreement for the crossing at Thailand’s Ban Khao Din district came after discussions Friday in Battambang town.

Second Deputy Governor Nam Tum said Sunday that the new border crossing will increase trade between the two regions. Gems, jewelry, agricultural products and processed wood are expected to be exported from Cambodia through the crossing. Consumer goods will be imported, he said.

Immigration authorities posted at the crossing will be able to issue seven-day visas, he added.
