Body of Kandal Farmer Found With Throat Slit

A 45-year-old rice farmer was found dead on Sunday morning in Kandal province with his throat slit open, in what police are treating as murder, according to a local official.

Hor Sang, a father of five, was discovered by local residents on the side of the main road running through Khsach Kandal district’s Chey Thom commune, said commune chief Yav Yan.

“The victim was trying to walk, but he died on the road in front of a house,” he said.

Mr. Yan cited local police as saying Mr. Sang likely died at about 11 p.m. on Saturday night after his throat was slit in an apparent attack, after which he stumbled an unspecified distance along the road.

“We don’t know the story and the reason for the murder, but we just know that the killer is not in the same district,” said Mr. Yan, adding that police are searching for an unnamed suspect around the same age as the victim.

Local police officials could not be reached.
