Aussie ‘King Kong’ Jailed for Distributing Meth

An Australian man nicknamed “King Kong” was sentenced to two years in prison, including one year of time served, and fined about $990 after being found guilty of distributing methamphetamine by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Tuesday.

Alan Rolf Jensen, 49, was arrested on December 23 in Daun Penh district’s Wat Phnom commune after police raided his rented apartment and found a small packet of methamphetamine along with small amounts of opium and marijuana, according to Presiding Judge Keo Mony.

“The police found drugs in his rental apartment and this is enough evidence to prove the crime,” Mr. Mony said Tuesday.

Despite Mr. Jensen admitting to being a drug user and saying that two or three women visited his house to take methamphetamine, he claimed he was not dealing the drug.

He also claimed that scales found in his apartment were for weighing drugs for personal consumption only.

Mr. Jensen, who said he had visited Cambodia numerous times as a tourist, has 30 days to appeal his conviction, but declined to say Tuesday how he planned to respond to the ruling.
