The half-year meeting of international aid donors will be held in Phnom Penh Jan 16, Minister of Finance Keat Chhon has told lawmakers at the National Assembly.
Donors will evaluate the government’s progress on reform since last June’s meeting in Tokyo, at which foreign donors pledged a total of $615 million to Cambodia for the current year. Donors told the government in June judicial reform and natural resource management are two areas in which the government needs to improve.
The international donors also leaned heavily on the government to move forward with the stalled Khmer Rouge tribunal law, officials say. The law was signed by King Norodom Sihanouk in August and the government says it is now waiting for the UN to negotiate its role in the tribunal.
