A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday in Kompong Cham province’s Prey Chhor district after allegedly attempting to rape two girls aged 5 and 7, police said Friday.
The boy convinced the two girls to help him cut palm fruit and led them about 200 meters away from their homes in Trapaing Preah commune, district police chief Keo Seang Horn said.
Mr. Seang Horn said the boy then asked the 5-year-old girl to take off her clothes and sit on him, which she did. “The suspect was attempting to rape the 5-year-old girl, but then her relatives interrupted,” he said, adding that the boy was immediately arrested.
Mr. Seang Horn said the boy had also asked the 7-year-old to take off her clothes, but that she had not yet done so when the first girl’s relatives arrived. “He confessed to attempted rape,” Mr. Seang Horn said.
“Before it he was watching pornography on his Samsung mobile phone and then he went to find two young girls to rape,” he added. San Sophea, deputy chief of the provincial serious crimes police bureau, said the boy would be sent to court Saturday.
