Opening tonight at the Institut Francais is the exhibition “Studio Images: Music” featuring works by students of the institute’s photography classes.
“Their assignment was to illustrate music in every shape or form,” said French photographer Philippe Bataillard, the Studio Images teacher. “We truly got a fairly wide range of what constitutes music in Cambodia.”
Taken by both Cambodian and foreign students, the photographs capture jazz musicians performing in a club, Cambodians playing in the street, a university student practicing violin and a motorcycle mechanic in his garage with his guitar, among others. Photos are displayed in the gardens alongside the Institut Francais’ library.
