‘He was one of a kind’: Burning Man’s beloved, blue-haired photographer — lost to COVID-19

Although Bobby Pin grew up in one of the coldest cities in the U.S., it was also one of the flattest, so he never quite learned to ski.

In mid-March, he decided it was time to learn. He took a beginner’s adult skiing class at Vail Ski Resort while on vacation.

“The thing that I like about Bobby is he would engage. He would be comfortable doing almost anything as long as it was safe,” said Dan Greening, his partner of 10 years.
