Artist lured to Cambodia’s culture

Many commuters have a rough time with the daily asphalt grind to San Francisco.

Then there’s artist David Draim, with his 26-hour flight ­­— typically with three stops along the way ­­— to Cambodia.

Sure, he doesn’t exactly head there every week. But he’s done it six times. Or was it seven?

The Dixon artist was mesmerized from the first time he set foot in the Southeast Asian country. He takes his work inspired by the ancient carvings of Angkor Wat to the Vacaville Art Gallery with a reception this Saturday and exhibit that runs through March 7.
