Influenza outbreak roils Cambodia

About 600 people from eight provinces have been infected with influenza in the past month, said Health Ministry spokesperson Or Vandine.

The Phnom Penh Post reported that the ministry had advised extreme caution. Based on a report released by the ministry, the influenza infections happened between Aug 15 and Sept 18.

The infected include 36 monks in Takeo, 46 in Battambang, 17 in Tbong Khmum and 26 in Banteay Meanchey provinces. Also infected are 169 inmates in Koh Kong and 147 in Preah Vihear provinces. In Kampong Thom province, 57 prisoners are receiving treatment.
