Walmart recently showed interest to work with Cambodia’s commerce ministry to study the country’s potential to expand its business operations and place more orders of global-standard goods from suppliers there, the ministry said. Walmart’s global government affairs director Anbinh Phan conveyed this to commerce minister Pan Sorasak in a video conference.
The aim is to create more jobs in Cambodia, especially for women, to help boost the economy and reduce poverty, Phan said.
“The ministry will continue to cooperate with the company, private sector, ministries and relevant institutions to boost exporting agricultural products to [that] market more and more,” Sorasak was quoted as saying by Cambodian media reports.
