According to a new report released by the World Economic Forum, the National Bank of Cambodia is aiming to be the first central bank in the world to utilize blockchain technology.
The National Bank of Cambodia is looking to set a new precedent. After working and piloting distributed ledger technology since late 2017, the bank hopes to deploy full usage of blockchain technology sometime this year. Going beyond ‘just studying’ blockchain like so many other banks, the National Bank of Cambodia is trying to be the first to adopt such a technology outright.
The national bank said that blockchain will be incorporated into its national payment system sometime in 2019.
