First batch of Cambodian bananas reaches China

A ship carrying 100 tonnes of Cambodian bananas arrived in Shanghai Friday, marking the start of China’s banana imports from Cambodia.

According to Shanghai Customs, the declared value of the bananas was 63,800 U.S. dollars.

In August 2018, the two countries signed an agreement on the quarantine requirements of Cambodia’s banana exports to China. Currently Cambodia boasts an annual output of 300,000 tonnes of bananas that can meet the requirements of the Chinese market.
