Data from Cambodia’s customs department indicate that the country exported 1.1 million bicycles to the European Union in the first half of this year. The bicycle exports were valued at €205 million between January and July.
The volume of bicycle exports to the EU 28 in the first half of 2020 hiked by 31%, from 835,000 units in the first half of 2019.
Currently, Cambodia is by far the biggest exporter of bikes to the European Union 28 member states. The country’s duty-free export status to the EU has allowed it to take top position. Despite the uncertainties regarding the future of this export status, industry experts already suggested last May that the coronavirus outbreak will continue to have a positive effect on the country’s bicycle production.
