A construction worker was arrested in Stung Treng province on Monday on suspicion of raping a 4-year-old girl at the Lower Sesan dam, a military police official said.
Hai Him, 24, was arrested after allegedly raping the girl on Saturday at the dam, where the parents of the girl were working, said Kun Bunlorn, spokesman for the provincial military police.
“The suspect raped the child at break time while other construction workers were taking a nap and the mother was busy with her job,” he said.
“Our forces arrested the suspect due to the complaint from the victim’s mother.”
Mr. Bunlorn said he did not know where the suspect was being detained but added that he would be sent to the provincial court for questioning on Wednesday.
