Two Factory Workers Arrested for Jeans Theft

Two factory workers were arrested on Sunday morning for stealing more than 20 pairs of jeans from a Kompong Speu garment factory where they were employed, said Samraong Tong district’s police chief Khut Sophal.

Mr. Sophal said the two men had been working at Hirota Cambodia Garment factory, and that they were both provisionally detained on Sunday afternoon.

Chea Vanna, the provincial minor crimes police chief, named the arrested workers as En Vesna, 28, and Pring Chengly, 30.

The pair told police that four people had been involved in the theft, Mr. Vanna said, adding that “only two of them have been arrested while the other two are on the run.”

“They told police that they had stolen 24 pairs of jeans from the factory and admitted that it was their first time stealing from the factory,” he said.

The two were being held at the provincial police headquarters on Sunday, he added.
