A 14-year-old boy in Kandal province confessed to raping his 10-year-old neighbor on three separate occasions, police said on Thursday.
The suspect was arrested in Kien Svay district’s Koki commune on Wednesday after raping the girl for the third time, according to Veng Kosal, the commune police chief.
Mr. Kosal said the girl’s mother reported the rape to police after her daughter complained of bleeding and told her about the assaults.
Mr. Kosal said the suspect and victim were playing together alone at the boy’s house when “the suspect got aroused” and raped the girl.
Mr. Kosal said “the suspect denied threatening the victim, but the victim said he had covered her mouth and threatened to beat her if she screamed.”
The girl was taken to the provincial referral hospital in Takeo City on Thursday morning, while the boy was being detained at the provincial police headquarters for further questioning, Mr. Kosal said.
According to a police report on the case, the first two rapes happened last year.
