Fishermen on Friday found the floating body of a taxi driver who had been killed, wrapped like a mummy in blankets and plastic, and discarded in a pond in Kampot province, police said.
The body of 28-year-old Khin Ny was found at about 7 a.m. near O’Krasar bridge in Toek Chhou district, the apparent victim of a robbery and murder, according to deputy provincial police chief Sao Sam Oeun.
Khin Ny’s car, a Toyota Camry, was missing from the scene and a police examination revealed that his teeth had been broken, Mr. Sam Oeun said.
“We’ve concluded that at least two suspects asked the victim to stop somewhere, then they beat him and wrapped him in plastic and drove the car away,” Mr. Sam Oeun said.
“It will be difficult to find the suspects until we can find the car.”
