Police in Pursat province were questioning a farmer and his son on Monday in the fatal shooting of a 64-year-old neighbor whose body was found in a Pursat City farm field on Saturday.
Sos Tang, who raised cows, was found with a bullet wound to the head and another to the chest from an AK-47, deputy provincial police chief Keo Sokunthea said on Monday.
He said the father and son, whom he declined to name, were brought in for questioning on Monday morning.
“Our police brought the two men in for questioning at the provincial police headquarters because we suspect they were involved in the murder,” he said.
Mr. Sokunthea said the neighbors may have gotten into an argument on the day of the murder after the victim’s cows strayed into the suspects’ field and damaged their cassava crop.
He said Sos Tang offered to compensate his neighbors, with money or cassava, but they refused and warned him to “be careful in the future.”
“The victim never had any disputes with anyone in the past,” Mr. Sokunthea said.
