Man Caught With 2 Kilograms of Cocaine Inside Cakes

A Malaysian man was caught with more than 2 kg of cocaine hidden in vacuum-sealed cakes inside his carry-on luggage at Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday, leading police to another Malaysian man who planned to receive the drugs, an official said on Friday.

Both men were arrested and will soon be sent to the municipal court after confessing under police questioning, said In Song, a senior officer in the National Police’s anti-drug department.

“We stopped to check the suspect. We found drugs in cakes in plastic,” he said.

He said Mohamad Rizduan departed from Brazil with 2.17 kg of cocaine and arrived in Cambodia via Peru and Qatar. His intended destination was Hong Kong.

But Cambodian police stopped him before the final leg of the trip, and upon finding the drugs had Mr. Rizduan lead them to Hemkavin Karthig Su, a fellow Malaysian staying at the Mekong View Tower who planned to receive the cocaine once it arrived in Phnom Penh, Mr. Song said.
