A patron who stabbed a police officer with a broken wine bottle at a Sihanoukville bar was provisionally charged on Tuesday with attempted homicide, committing violence and damaging property, said Huot Vichet, the spokesman for the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court.
Huang Jinan, 24, a Chinese national, was questioned on Tuesday at the provincial court, Vichet said. Huang was accused of repeatedly stabbing Bei commune police officer Sao Samnang in the chest and stomach when Samnang tried to stop him from breaking furniture and glassware at Spider Bar on Monday at about 5 a.m.
The establishment’s owner, Nguyen Thylong, had called police after Mr. Huang, who was drunk, refused to leave her bar after closing time and began smashing things, said Samnang, who received 15 stitches and was still recovering on Tuesday at a private clinic in Bei commune.
Huang was detained in the provincial prison pending further questioning, Vichet said.
