A husband has confessed to concealing his wife’s body in a well after allegedly killing her by accident during a quarrel about selling some of their land in Kompong Chhnang province, a police chief said.
Chuch Eth, 45, was arrested on Tuesday over the death of his wife, El Kimsim, 42, at their plantation in Kompong Leng district on June 29, said district police chief Pal Choeun.
The husband told police he pushed his wife, who fell and hit her head on the rim of the well and died.
The crime was discovered a month later when Mr. Eth propositioned another woman, Mr. Choeun said.
“He called a woman and admitted his love. That woman said ‘How can I love you? You are married already,” the police chief said.
The husband at first said that his wife had left him for another man but later told the woman he had killed her.
The woman contacted a charity, and police were called and discovered El Kimsim’s body in the well, Mr. Choeun said.
