Two women and a man were slapped with eight- to 14-year prison sentences on Monday for dealing methamphetamines and ketamine last year.
Phnom Penh Municipal Court Presiding Judge Chuon Sokreasey sentenced Tou Chhay, 34, to eight years in prison and ordered him to pay 15 million riel, or about $3,750, while In Ariya, 27, received a 14-year sentence and was ordered to pay a 30 million riel fine, or about $7,500.
The judge also issued an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Ek Ratha and gave her the same sentence as Mr. Chhay.
Police told the court they confiscated about 32 grams of meth at Mr. Chhay’s Phnom Penh home and another 107 grams of meth and 0.05 g of ketamine at a rented house that belonged to Ms. Ariya in September last year.
Mr. Chhay and Ms. Ariya denied both the charges and knowing each other in hearings earlier this month and last month.
Both suspects said they planned to appeal the case. “There is no justice—not even a little,” Mr. Chhay said.
